Kenneth Maurice began learning the art of stone cutting at the age of 10 under the guidance of his father Leo Robert Maurice, developing an early respect for craftsmanship, precision, and the timeless nature of memorial stonework.

He later attended the Stone Trades program at Spaulding High School for two years, where he refined his knowledge of granite shaping, monument design, and traditional stoneworking techniques. Continuing his experience in the granite industry, Kenneth worked at Rock of Ages, gaining valuable hands-on experience within one of the nation’s most recognized granite operations.

Beyond traditional monument work, Kenneth devoted years to studying Renaissance classical sculpture, human anatomy, and anatomical proportioning — disciplines that continue to influence his artistic approach to memorial design and sculptural detail today.

At just 16 years old, he founded Vermont Stone Sculpturing as a sole proprietorship, driven by a commitment to craftsmanship and individualized memorial artistry. The company later evolved into an LLC and was formally incorporated in 2015.
With over 45 years of experience, Kenneth continues to personally design, sculpt, engrave, and install memorials throughout New England. Vermont Stone Sculpturing specializes in handcrafted memorials, cemetery lettering, memorial benches, custom sculptured monuments, and one-of-a-kind granite creations built with lasting care and precision.

The company offers both CAD renderings and hand-sketched concept drawings for custom memorial projects, allowing families to visualize each monument before production begins. For sculptured custom monuments, clay and plaster cast models are also created to develop dimensional artistic detail and proportion prior to carving in granite.

Every project is approached with a deep respect for craftsmanship, artistry, and remembrance — combining traditional stoneworking techniques with generations of experience and artistic study.
